It was a glorious evening for the blue and white faithful as the Lions miraculously capped off a satisfying season with 5 straight wins to become the NIT champions.Watching the game at MSG yesterday I couldn't help reminisce about the last time I saw Penn State basketball surrounded with such excitement. Some of you may remember the 2000 - 2001 season when State trounced the #2 seed UNC Tarheels in the NCAA tournament. I sure do, it was on my birthday and what a gift it was. The Crispin brothers were making it rain from the outside, with Gyasi Cline-Heard and Titus Ivory bringing the noise from everywhere else. I recall running out into "Beaver Canyon" amongst a heard of my fellow students, screaming and jumping in joy for hours. Those were the days. I think I even saw one of those friendly State College policemen, sporting his riot gear, give a little "WE ARE" chant to the crowd.

As if winning the NIT wasn't enough, Penn State basketball was greeted with yet another victory after their championship run, Talor Battles little bro. For those of you who don't know, Talor Battle, the sophomore guard for PSU, earned first team Big Ten honors this year, not a small accomplishment for a second year Penn State guy. I actually can't even remember the last time that happened. And it's with great pride that I can say he hails from Albany NY, my home town (they have good drinking water up there).
After the game, Talor apparently was talking to his brother on the phone, stating his case. Saying things like "Are you coming? Are you coming?" - "What more do you want?" - "We beat Notre Dame, we won the NIT. Brother to Brother, tell me." Sure enough he got his answer and verbally over the phone the Junior hailing from Bishop Maginn High school in Albany NY, the 17th most recruited shooting guard in the country for the class of 2010 - 2011, said he wants to be a Nittany Lion. Rejoice, Penn State has a basketball program at last.

go ahead, hate, hater
and i think they were only about 1 or 2 games away from being #2 in the Big 10, not too shabby, they even beat Michigan St. earlier this year, and I do believe they're in the final 4... maybe they're not the UB Bulls but thank the lord for that!
