Hello sports betting fans. Today seems to have some easy games on the schedule. First up, Syracuse -2-1/2 against Arizona State. Syracuse is one of the best teams in a very tough Big East, and Arizona State is one of average teams in a soft PAC-10. This seems to be a no-brainer to me, Syracuse in a cakewalk. Personally, I think the spread should be closer to 7 or 8, but I am not Las Vegas. Cleveland State +3 against Arizona. Cleveland State will always be the team that knocked out my beloved Indiana Hoosiers so many years ago. I think it was a 14 beating a 3 seed. Regardless, they're quick, athletic and play some mean defense. Arizona did not impress me in their first round win. I like CSU to win outright, but we'll gladly take the points. Siena +12 against Louisville. Siena plays in the underrated MAAC league and won the championship against a tough Niagara team. Kenny Hasbrouck is the real deal. This kid can flat out play. I think Louisville wins in a tight game, but watch out for Siena. They could pull the first major upset in the tourney here. Take the 12 and laugh all the way to the bank. Dayton +7-1/2 against Kansas. This isn't the Kansas we all grew up with. They're decent but not great. I swear half of this spread is based just on their name. Take the Flyers plus the 7. I think this is solid. Michigan State -4 against USC. Well, what kind of Big Ten wonk would I be without giving their champion some props. Michigan State is healthy for the first time all year and Tom Izzo is a pressure tested coach. He can be the difference in a close game. USC again plays in the soft PAC-10, so I give them no credit. Take the Big Ten champs and give the 4. That's it, I'm only taking 5 out of the 8 games, but if you held a gun to my head, I'd also throw in Mizzou, Xavier, and Pitt. RJ OUT

If you add in my throw in games, I'm 3-2, and looking good in the late games. I really liked Xavier giving 3 to Wisconsin, but I hate picking against Big Ten teams. Pittsburgh was solid too, but they were giving 7-1/2 or 8 and I thought that was 2-3 pts too much for Oklahoma State, which is a good team. They won by 8, but that is razor thin. Mizzou is looking good, up by 16 late in the 1st half.

Well, my feature picks ended up going 3-2. Add in my throw-in picks and I go 6-2. Siena really gave Louisville a run, but couldn't sustain their offense. Give credit to Pitino for coming up with a plan to shut down Hasbrouck. They held him to 4 for 18 shooting. Look for him in the NBA next year, maybe in the developmental league, but he'll be around.

Michigan State made some clutch free throws down the stretch and USC proved my theory that PAC-10 teams melt under pressure.

tough loss for Marquette. You hate to see a game like that come down to an inbound violation, but what are you gonna do. That would have been 6 Big East teams in the sweet 16. Still think my Big East picks are bad? Pitt hasn't been looking like the team to beat however. They've struggled for their wins. With all these upsets, it looks like the ship has righted itself in the second round for the most part.
