But this Eagles guy is a borderline douchebag. Dan Leone, a 5 year usher for the Philadelphia Eagles has lost his job after posting something on his facebook page to the extent of the following:
"Dan is fucking devastated about Dawkins signing with Denver..Dam Eagles R retarded!!"
Please note the poor grammar. See the three periods, followed by the misspelling or "damn," the "R" instead of "are" and the multiple exclamation points?
Sure it is a facebook page, but as an employee of an organization I am going to go against the masses and say that while 79% of ESPN users agree that his job should be reinstated, I feel that when you work as a SEASONAL employee for a sports franchise, professional in nature that is exempt from the Sherman Anti-Trust act among other high profile legislation, you shouldn't broadcast stupid shit you don't want held against you on the Internet. I say that AND I write inappropriate blog posts on said Internet.
Is there freedom of speech in America? Yes. Does it apply to you when you bash your employer to anyone who can read it? I'm not sure. But I'm somewhat sure that he was probably turned in by an employee of the Eagles who pumped this upstairs who was a "friend" of Leone on the site where he broadcast his opinion. That's totally speculation by the way, I say this and I'm a liberal.
Now this dude is taking his case to the media, including the "fair and balanced media." My favorite part is that Fox News was pimping the fact that he has a borderline disability.
Look, if the Eagles want to fire Dan, great. Odds are he is going to file a lawsuit, and probably win it if he plays the disability card, no disrespect to him, but I'm sure it is a good card to play.
In any event, they teach facebook lessons in college resume seminars now. The lesson is don't post shit you don't want people to see on the Internet. Facebook is a social utility that will screw you if you post stupid shit on the Internet. Recently the company had to retort their updated policy where your posts and pictures were their property. They are like the Firm people, don't you get it yet?
